Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has been on the look out for new signings for many positions for his squad as he looks to bolster his options for the new up coming premier league season. Martinex has a number of players on his radar who he feels would benefit the squad and talks continue with many clubs over bringing in the players he needs for the new season.
One of the top targets for the manager this summer is highly rated Blackpool defender Alex Baptiste who has been in stunning for for his current club all of last season. The 26 year old is highly regarded by Martinez and now the manager is in discussions with the northern club to bring the player to the DW Stadium ready for the start of the season although Blackpool have been coy on releasing any details of the deal.
Great news for Wigan fans right now is that the club have rebuffed a third bid from Chelsea to take flying winger Victor Moses to Stamford Bridge with the club holding firm to the fact that any club wishing to sign the winger will need to table an offer of the clubs valuation of the player. This may cool interest in the player from the European champions as Roberto DiMatteo will not be forced into playing over the odds for the player and may find himself looking elsewhere for new additions to his squad.
Aberdeen superstar Fraser Fyvie could be a player on his way to the DW this summer after the club stepped up interest in the player after finding out the players contract with his current club is due to end in December with no new deal set to take place. Martinez has long been an admirer of the player and sees him as the perfect addition to his squad for the up coming season so talks continue about bringing him down to the premier league outfit.
Wigan old boy Hugo Rodallega who left the club after they decided not to renew his contract at the end of the season looks all set to join Fulham on a free transfer. The player found it increasingly hard to nail down a regular spot at Wigan and was told just before the end of the season that he no longer was in Martinez plans for the club and thus he is now looking all set to join the Cottagers any time soon.
